Objective: To compare patient satisfaction with three type of Twin-Block,the relationship of patient satisfaction and their related factors and the direction of development on the functional appliance were found. Methods: 86 patients participated in the study, were randomly classifiedinto Twin-Block-fixed (TB1), Twin-Block-unfixed (TB2) and Twin-Block-mixed (TB3). Those children displayed Class II Division 1 malocclusion. The observation period and all active treatment carried out were 6 months. The main outcome measures were overall satisfaction and patient complaints, and treatment results after 6 months, were assessed using questionnaires focusing on an overall satisfaction score and patient complaints in treatment and the results after treatment, and monitored their complaints and the satisfaction rate during the first 10 days of treatment and rated them and the treatment result retrospectively 6 months after appliance insertion. Results: Based on the base line data from the "patient Complaints" and"physiognomy" questionnaires, nine interpretable factors could be extracted, two factors did not vary following treatment and were excluded from the outcome analysis. At the six months evaluation five of seven factors showed significantly better scores for the Twin-Block fixed groups than for the unfixed groups. Twin- Block (fixed type), Twin- Block (mixed type) provided a more satisfactory solution for denture-related problems than Twin-Block (unfixed type) in satisfaction degree and treatment results. Conclusion: The results of this study highlight the importance of three kindof appliance wear in patient satisfaction degree of orthodontic patients. Twin-Block (fixed type), Twin-Block (mixed type) provided a more satisfactory solution for all problems than Twin-Block (unfixed type). The most frequent complaints werelower denture, upper denture, physiognomy and difficulty chewing in 10 days. A significant reduction in the number of complaints was observed in 6 months after insertion of the appliance. Twin-Block (fixed type), Twin-Block (mixed type) provided a more satisfactory solution for denture-related problems than Twin-Block (unfixed type). The direction of development on the functional appliance was found from unfixed to fixed.Postgraduate Chen WeiDirected by Prof Chen Jie...
