A Study On Humanities Curricula Set-up In Military Medical University

Humanities education in military medical university plays an important role in training health professional in medical education. The significance of Humanities education can be illuminated as follow. It guides medical education to the proper course of cultivating excellent doctors. And it is the need of the military medical education to perfect the educational system and train qualified medical staff to meet the challenge of the future local high-technology war. It is also the need of the medical staff to modernize their knowledge. The key to improve the quality of humanities education in military medical university is to arrange the humanities curricula scientifically and effectively.The aim of this study was to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the present humanities curricula by quantitatively and qualitatively analyzing their arrangement for the clinical medicine majors in 123 medical universities (including 4 military medical universities)) in China In the course of study we analysed the system of present humanities curricula not only from the quantitative analysis but also from the qualitative analysis. Adjustment of the content of medical humanities curricula was presented.Based on the study of present humanities curricula,we set up a new system of humanities curricula for military medical university ,by Experts Consultation, Precedence Chart and Straight Plus Method. According to the nature, purposes and functions of humanities curricula, three kinds of humanities curricula were formed in military medical university: general humanities curricula, the medicine-based humanities curricula and medical professional humanities curricula. Basic humanities curricula and medical humanities curricula were diversified into core curricula, activity curricula, potential curricula, and small curricula. The study provided scientific and effective facts for the decision-makers to set up humanities curricula in military medical university. Meanwhile , it was foundthat the key to improve the quality of humanities education in military medical university was to strengthen and perfect the set-up of medical humanities subjects, improve humanities education of medical staff and perfect humanities circumstance in the military medical universities.
