Objective: To investigate the effect, side effect and safety of the anemia treatment with recombinant human erythropoietin for the gynecologic patients with anemia .Method: Case-control study was used in this research. Research group of 26 patients with anemia were treated with rHuEPO 10000 u and oral iron supplement. Control group of 30 patients with anemia were treated with oral iron supplement only. The Hb,HCT and RBC were tested at the 3,7 and 14 days after the treatment o The rehabilitation and the cost-effectiveness were also evaluated.Result: The Hb increased 1.84g/L, HCT increased 0.0767 and RBC increased 0.68 × 1012 respectively at the 7th days after rHuEPO therapy in research group. The Hb increased 0.513g/L, HCT increased 0.0079 and RBC increased 0.04 × 1012 at the 7th days after rHuEPO treatment in the control group. The Hbincreased 2.616g/L, HCT increased 0.088 and RBC increased 0.8 × 1012 at the 14th days after the rHUEPO treatment in research group. The Hb increased 0.89g/L, HCT increased 0.016 and RBC increased 0.05 × 1012 at the 14th days after the rHuEPO therapy in control group. The levels in the research group is significantly higher than that in the control group. There is no blood transfusion in the research group and 10 cases transfusions in control group. The bowel recovery in research group is faster than that in the control group. The expense in research group is lower than that in the control group. Conclusion: The anemia treatment with recombinant human erythropoietin for the gynecologic patients with anemia is effective , safe and economic. It also helps with the rehabilitation.
