Objective To observe the plasma Neuropeptide Y(NPY) concentration in patients with essential hypertention ,and to study the action of NPY in patients of essential hypertention with target-organ damage. Methods 115 patients with essential hypertension were divided into three grades by the level of blood pressure, Grade I : 49 cases ,Grade 11:47 cases, Grade â…¢: 19 cases .Patients of essential hypertension with target-organ damagewere 64 cases.Patients with one target-organ damage were 45cases (cerebral apoplexy 13 cases, left ventricular hypertrophy 21 cases, renal failure 1 lcases),patients with two and more target-organ damages were 19 cases. The plasma NPY concentration was determined by radioimmunoassay(RIA) in 115 patients with essential hypertention and 30 normal controls. Results 1 The results showed that the plasma NPYconcentration in patients with essential hypertension was significantly higher than nomal controls(p <0.001),the plasma NPY level was different in various grades(F=76.717,p< 0.001),There was positive correlation between plasma NPY concentration and mean artery pressur(r=+0.856,p<0.01). 2. The plasma NPY concentration in various groups with different target-organ damages was significantly higher than patients without target-organ damage(p <0.01 orp < 0.001).The plasma NPYconcentration in patients with more target-organ damages was higher than patients without target-organ damage(p < 0.001),but there is no difference in patients with more target-organ damages and patients with one target-organ damage(p>0.05).Conclusions 1. The plasma level of NPY was elevated in patients with essential hypertension .There was positive correlation between plasma NPY and mean artery pressure. The results indicated that NPY may take part in the pathophysiological process of essential hypertension. 2. The plasma level of NPY was significantly elevated in patients of essential hypertension with target-organdamage .The elevated plasma NPY levels may accelerate the development of target-organ damage.Postgraduaterzhang Rumin(Cardiovasology) Directed by Prof. Wo Jinshan... |
