Objective: 1. To investigate the apolipoprotein CIII(ApoCIII) SstI polymorphism in Guangxi Zhuangzu and Hanzu people.2. To study the apolipoprotein CIII(ApoCIII) SstI polymorphism and its relationship with the type 2 diabetic patients and the hypertriglyceridemia pepole. Methods: The genotype and allele fragment of ApoCIII gene SstI polymorphism were determined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP)in 114 Hanzu people,107 Zhuangzu people and 122 patient of type 2 diabetes in Guangxi. Results: 1,The frequencies of S1 alleles and S2 alleles were 0.706 , 0.772 and 0.294,0.228 in the Zhuangzu and Hanzu people in Guangxi respectively.The frequencies of S2 alleles were not significantly difference between the Zhuangzu and Hanzu people in Guangxi (p>0.05).The frequencies of S1 and S2 alleles in the Westen white men were 0.897 and 0.012 respectively. There were significantly difference between the Westen white men and the Zhuangzu and Hanzu people (p<0.001 and p<0.05).2,In the type2 diabetic group and the control group , S1 alleles were the major alleles,homozygous S1S1 genotype were the frequent one in both groups. There were not significantly diffrence in the frequence of S2 alleles between the type 2 diabetes and the control groups.No significantly differences were found in ApoCIII gene SstI polymophism between the high triglyceride(HTG) subjects and normal triglyceride(NTG) subjects .3,There were not significantly difference in the body index,systolic pressure, diastolic pressure,cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein,ApoA1,ApoB, ApoA1/B ,HOMA-Insulin resistance index among the S1S1, S1S2 and S2S2 genotypes(p>0.05).Conclusion:The ApoCIII gene polymorphism were not significantly defference between the Zhuangzu and Hanzu people in Guangxi, but there were not significantly defference between the Guangxi people and West white men. No significantly differences were found in ApoCIII gene SstI polymophism between type 2 diabetic group and control group, and the ApoCIII gene SstI polymophism was not associated with hypertriglyceridemica.
