The Clinical Research On Leukotrienes E₄ Level In Urine In Sick Children With Asthma Attack (Heat Syndrome) And The Effect Of Chinese Medicine Therapy

Objectives: To observe of the relation ship between the levels of leukotrienes E4(LTE4) in urine in sick children with asthma at attack stage (Heat Syndrome) and its change between before and after the therapy of the Chinese decoction of Chuan Tong Kang .To explore the effective mechanism of the Chinese decoction of Chuan Tong Kang on the attack stage of asthma.Methods: According to the national standard of asthma prevention and treatment cooperative group ,sixty sick children (34 male and 24 female ),with asthma attack and average age of 8.43 3.47 years were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=30).Western Medicine group (control group) and treatment group .Besides the regular treatment ,the second group were treated with the Chinese decoction of Chuan Tong Kang .According to the degree of asthma attack ,sixty sick children were divided into mild degree ,moderate degree and serious degree 30 healthy children were taken as the normal control group .The syndromes physical examination and pulmonary function were observed before and after therapy .Urine were determined by ELISA method.Results: (1) The levels of urine LTE4 of sick children with asthma were markedly higher than that of normal children (p<0.01)(2) AT the stage of asthma release ,the levels of urine LTE4 of sick children were still markedly higher than that of normal control group (p<0.01)(3).With different degree of asthma ,the levels of LTE4 in urine were obviouslydifferent (4) After therapy the levels of LTE4 in urine were markedly decreased compared with pretreatment in both group . (p<0.01)And treatment group were significant lower than that of control group (5)The syndrome control and the improvement of pulmonary function and the obvious rate and the effective rate in treatment group were superior to control group obviously (p<0.05)Conclusions: (1) The levels of urine LTE4 of sick children with asthma attack obviously increased compared with normal group As an inflammatory factors LTE4 is possibly contributed to the development of airway inflammation (2) The levels of urine LTE4 were positively correlated to the degree of asthma So the levels of urine LTE4 may serve as an index of the degree of asthma attack (3) the effect of the the treatment group were superior to control group obviously Chinese decoction of chuan tong kang may prohibit inflammatory factors from releasing through intervening the Combination of leukotrienes or influence leukotrienes receptor and control airway inflammation and airway remodeling...
