Objective: We have investigated pathogenesis of immunology in mice with experimentally induced secondary echinococcus multilocularis(EM) after detected the variable levels of six cytokine. Methods: Following abdominal inoculation echinococcus protoscolec'es, We researched the change of serum levels of six kinds of cytokines. The course of infection was followed for 260 days. Results: As compared with uninfected controls, the change levels of six cytokine were always significantly increased during 260 days. The levels of IL-2 showed a peak after 80 days postinfection (p.i.), then decreased quickly after 140 days p.i. High levels of TNF-a was detected after 40 days, as compared to uninfected control. It showed a peak at 100 days p.i. then decreased quickly after 140 days. The levels of IFN-r showed a peak after 80 days p.i. and then decreased slowly After 140 days p.i. Before 80 days, the levels of IL-4, IL-5, IL-10 remained lower, and after 100 days three kinds of cytokine were increased sharply. The levels of IL-4,IL-10 showed peaks at 100 days p.i., and IL-5 at 140 days p.i. Conclusion: The data suggest that the induction of TH2 antibody-mediated immunity (AMI) with a parallel expansion of THi cell-mediated infammatory (CMI)responses as important mechanism of host defence against the metacestode. THi CMI played important roles at the early of infection, and TH2 AMI Was important in the middle and latter infection.
