Clinical Study On Treatment Of Poststroke Depression By Electroacupuncture At Baihui And Shenting Points

Stroke was common ,multiple neurologic disease. Post-stroke depression (PSD) is the most commonly encountered complication of stroke. To further find a new route to treat poststroke depression, this article mainly discussed the effect of electroacupuncture plus western medicine on poststroke depression and the patients' neural function and activity of daily living scale (ADL). Methods 34 cases were randomly divided into the treatment group treated with electroacupuncture at Baihui and Shenting plus Mesyrel , and the control goup cases treated with Mesyrel. Besides the Hamilton rating scale for depression (HAMD), the neural fuction deficient and ADL evaluation were also applied to all of the patients before the treatment and after the treatment in the sixth week. Results There was a significant decrease of HAMD and SSS scrores in the treatment group in the sixth week (p<0.01),and also the ADL scores increased significantly (p<0.01).The recovery speed of the treatment group wsa faster than that of the control group,and there was also a significant difference (P<0.05 and P<0.01) . Conclusion The therapeutic effect of treatment of electro-acupuncture plus Mesyrel on PSD is better than that of Mesyrel.
