Bacground/Objective:The gastrointestinal tract is the biggest endocrinal organ and gastrointestinal hormones as regulatory peptides possess varieties of biological effects, specially they have important regulatory effects on physical function. Helicobacter pylori(Hp) is one of the commonest chronic bacterial infections of humans worldwide. It is now a generally accepted fact that H pylori is an important cause of chronic gastritis peptic ulcer disease and even gastric carcinoma. The gastrin of serum is higher with infected H pylori. At present studies involve both gastrointestinal hormones and the pathogenesis of diseases in overseas, simultaneously domestic studies are confined to measuring gasointestinal hormones in plasma by radioimmunoassay(RIA). The study furtherly investigated the variation of G cells (gastrin cells)and D cells (somatostatin cells) association with different gastrointestinal diseases with Hp infection. Methods:1. The infection of Hp was detected by RUT and histology stain inpatients with chronic gastritis or peptic ulcer disease.2. The variations of GasN SST in serum and gastric antral mucosa tissuewere measured by RIA.3. To observe the ultrastructural changes of endocrine cells in antrum with transmission electron microscopy.4. G cells(Gastrin cells) and D cells(somastatin cells) in gastricduodenalmucosa were analyzed with polyclonal antibody to Gas andimmunohistochemical techique and Quantime500+ image analysis system. Results:1. The level of gastrointestinal hormones in serum and gastric antral mucosa tissue is disorder, such as Gas t SST I in the tissue, especially in duodenal ulcer patients.2. With chronic vesicating gastitis patients, transmission electron microscopy showed that electron density of endocrine cells were heavy, undifferentiated endocrine cells can be seen. Most of the cytoplasm is occupied by canaliculi and mitochondria, and canaliculi with developed microvilli can be recognized.3. Immunohistochemical technique and quantitative image analysis system of G cells and D cells showed square of D cell's numbers declined (P<0.05),grey of G cells evaluated (P<0.05) and ratio of the number on G/D increased (P<0.05) in gastric antral mucosa tissues, especially in duodenal ulcer patients (P<0.01). The number of G D declined (P<0.01) with happened of the antrophy gastritis. The product of number and grey of G cells significantly increased, the product of number and grey of D cells decreased, especially in duodenal ulcer patients (P<0.01) .Cone I us ions:The study confirmed that gastrointestinal hormones might take an important part in the pathogenesis of gastroduodenal diseases with infected Hp,Such as disorder of Gas,SST . The study aimed at the changes of G cells and D cells and showed G cells was active,D cells was passive, the radio of the number of G and D cells in Gastric antral mucosa increased which would lead to the changment of gastrointestinal disfunction, especially associated with duodenal ulcer disease.
