Studies On The Water Soluble Constituents From Xanthochorus Nilgheriensis (Mont.)Teng

Xanthochorus nilgheriensis (Mont.)Teng has been used to cure laryngopharyngitis and tonsillitis as a folk remedy.But it has not been vestigated before. In this chemical study on Xanthochorus nilgheriensis (Mont.)Teng, 5 compounds have been isolated. On the basis of chemical reactions,spectral evidences and also by comparision with some authentic samples and their standard spetra, they were proposed as following: Hexadecoic acid (I) Succinic acid (II) Niacin( III), a -D- ( + ) -glucose(IV),the fifth one is ursane compound. I II III IV are firstly isolated from this plant, III is firstly isolated from this genus.
