Atractylodes japonica koidz ex kitam was largely distributed in YanBian .In order to make this regional medicinal herb be recorded as an orthodox one in Chinese pharmacopoeia,the studies on the quality standards of it were carried out in this experiment. First,the medicinal herb was extracted with methanol,then was extracted with petroleum ether and acetic ester.The components extracted from petroleum ether were gathered and condensed ,then were separated by silica gel column chromatography. AtractylenalideⅢ in petroleum ether - acetic ester(70:30)was identified by the method of TLC.Second, The volatile components in rhizoma Atractylodis japonicae was extracted with skellysolve B and determined by capillary GC/MS/MSD. Eleven volatile components were found.And then, some items such as :micro differentiation, physicochemical differentiation,content determination and as well as moisture content,ash content,content of ash which can't be dissolved in acid ,heavy metal (Pb),As content, content of objects which was extracted from distilled water, pesticide residuecontent which were orded in in Chinese pharmacopoeia about the Ⅵ New medicinal herbs were carried out ,and the quality standards were made out .Content: 0.7539mg/g; moisture: 9.5% ; Ash: 7.5%; Ash which can't be dissolved in acid: 0.48%; Pb: 13ppm; As:0.33ppm.
