| Objective To compare the effect of Valsartan and Metoprolol on brachial artery in essential hypertension(EH).Methods Seventy essential hypertension patients were randomly divided into two groups(A,B) .GroupA were treated with Valsartan and GroupB with Metoprolol for 6 months.Compliance and endothelial function of brachial artery was determined by Pulsed Doppler technique. Brachial artery diameter(Dd),flow velocity(Vm),volumic blood flow(Q) , distensibi!ity(Dc)and resistance(R) used as the indexes of compliance of brachial artery while the brachial artery diametre(Dd'), the flow velocity(Vm'), the volumic blood flow(Q')and the resistance(R') after brachial artery reactive hyperaemia used as the indexes of endothelial function of it.Results (1). After 6 months treatment, BP in all patients decreased in two groups. (2). In Group A, the Dd (0.38 ± 0.08 vs 0.42 ± 0.07 cm/s, p<0.01), Vm (9.90±3.45 vs 24.22?.44cm/s, p<0.05), Q (1.11±0.60 vs 2.10±0.67ml/s, p<0.05) and DC (27.32±8.45 vs 33.20?.88 l/mrnHg.10-5,p<0.05) increased obviously. R (122.3±50.1 vs 73.2±29.8mmHg.s/ml, p<0.01) decreased obviously. IMT had no change. While in Group B, R (120.2±78.6 vs 123.1±65.5 mmHg.s/ml, p<0.05) increased obviously, Vm(10.12±5.01 vs 8.91±3.22ml/s, p<0.05}&(1.18±0.77 vs1.07 ± 0.56 ml/s, p<0.05) decreased. Dd (0.39±0.07 vs 0.39 ± 0.07cm, p>0.05), DC (28.78 ± 8.98 vs 27.32±9.11 1/mmHg.10-3, p>0.05), IMT (0.040 ± 0.009 vs 0.040 ± 0.008cm, p>0.05) had no change. (D. After brachial artery reactive hyperaemia, in Group A, Dd'(0.42 ± 0.01 vs 0.45 ± 0.01cm, p0.01), Vm' ( 77.12 ± 20.23 vs 106.34 ± 24.92 cm/s, p<0.05) , Q'(11.15 ± 5.50 vs 17.42 ± 7.02 ml/s, p<0.05) increased. R'(8.25 ± 2.84 vs 7.14 ± 2.80 mmHg.s/ml, p<0.05) decreased. In Group B, Vm' (78.43 ± 23.88 vs 72.64 ± 23.34 cm/s, p<0.01), Q'(l 1.88 ± 3.37 vs 9.32 ± 2.20ml/s, p<0.05) decreased. R' (8.65 ± 3.12 vs 8.83 ± 3.82mmHg.s/ml, p>0.05), Dd' (0.43 ± 0.01 vs 0.43 ± 0.03cm, p>0.05) had no change.Gonduaon Valsartan may improve the compliance and endothelial function of brachial artery .Metoprolol has none of them... |
