Liver transplantation has become a generally acceptedly effective method dealing with end-staged liver disease. Liver transplantation in our country has entered into the developing period with the steadily steps and great speediness at present. We should not only deal with the relationship between cases and survival rate of postoperation, but also raise survival rate after operation and improve quality of life with the liver transplantation technique improving. The reports to gastric function before and after liver transplantation are few until now. So, We observed the changes of gastric function before and after liver transplantation on the basis of successful liver transplantation in rats with hepatic cirrhosis. The objects of this study is to provide the theory basis clinically improving quality of life of liver transplantation recipient. Methods:Chemical analysis, pathological method , radio-analysis method and radioimmunological method were used. Liver transplantations weremade with two-cuff technique after successfully establishing hepatic cirrhosis models. Then gastric secretion function, motive function and changes of gastric mucosa were observed in histology and ultrastructure.Results:1. Gastric acid was decreased before liver transplantation in hepaticcirrhosis rats and increased with time after liver transplantation.2. Gastric emptying showed apparent disturbance in hepatic cirrhosisrats before liver transplantation and improved with time after liver transplantation.3. Gastric mucosa was injured in hepatic cirrhosis rats before livertransplantation and recovered with time after liver transplantation. Conclusions:Liver transplantation can improve impairments of gastric function and gastric mucosa because of liver function failure.
