| Objective: To measure the expression levels of matrix metalloproteina-ses(MMPs) and their inhibitor ,tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase (TIM Ps), and to discuss their relationship with the bladder transitional cell carcinoma.Method: RT-PCR technique and immunohistochemistry(SP) method were used to measure the levels of MMP-2 > MMP-9 > TIMP-1 and TIM-P-2 in 61 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma and 23 cases of adj-acent tissues nearby the cancer .Result: The MMP-2, MMP-9 and TIMP-2 levels of mRNA and protein in bladder transitional cell carcinoma group were much higher thanthose in the adjacent tissue group(P<0.01), and the degree of cancer invasion rose with the change of MMP-2 -. MMP-9 and TIMP-2 . MMP-2 ^ MMP-9 and TIMP-2 expression levels decreased in recurrent tumors and tumors with distance metastasis(PO.Ol). There was a positive correlation between the expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2.Conclusion: MMP-2 -, MMP-9 and TIMP-2 are better molecular markers in the assessment of bladder transitional cell carcinoma invasion and metastasis, and they can be used to predict the prognosis of tumor . They also offer a potential strategies to treatment of bladder transitional cell carcinoma. |
