| Recent years with the rapid growth of economy and population in Beijing, the need of Beijing community on forest has changed from only timber production to the comprehensive forest service of ecological function and economical benefit. However, the human activities and the shortage of traditional forest management caused the current situation of the forest in Beijing region is that most forest are pure and young forest with unreasonable forest stand structure and very weak forest function and very low forest benefit which cannot meet the comprehensive needs of Beijing community at all. According to the experience of developed forestry countries, close-to-nature forest can meet the needs much better. The object of study is the main four forest types of Pinus tabulaeformis plantation,Platycladus orientalis natural forest,Quercus variabilis plantation and Quercus variabilis natural secondary forest in Beijing lower mountain region. The study content includes the forest management parameters of species structure,diameter-stems frequency distribution, vertical structure, species diversity, regeneration, soil and tree growth etc.The main achievements are: It was summarized by comparing the forest management parameters of the four forest type that as a native climax species in Beijing region the Quercus variabilis forests are superior to the Pinus tabulaeformis plantation and Platycladus orientalis natural forest in the aspects of stand structure, species diversity, stand soil and tree growth etc. Therefore, it is one of the best species for developing close-to-nature forest in Beijing region; the nature potential of Quercus variabilis forests in Beijing were analyzed according to the stage classification of the establishment and development of close-to-nature forest developed by Lu, Yuanchang and Knut Strum which is based on the nature succession; based on the close-to-nature forest management model, the result showed that the Pinus tabulaeformis plantation is in the second stage of competition differentiation and the Platycladus orientalis natural forest and the Quercus variabilis forests are in the third stage of selection stage; integrated with the special needs of Beijing community of forest the management targets were put forward; according to the principles of close-to-nature forest management, the technical operations of f management were formulated; at last, two target forest development types for Quercus variabilis plantation and Quercus variabilis natural secondary forest each were designed. This study provides the theoretical basis and technical orientation for the close-to-nature forest management of Quercus variabilis forest in Beijing; meanwhile, it can be as a reference for the close-to-nature forest management of other forest types. By applying close-to-nature forest management, the improvement of Beijing's forest current situation can be accelerated, sustainable forest management can be achieved and the people's ever-increasing needs of economical and ecological service on forests can be satisfied. |
