Studies On Processing Technology Of Male-sterile Flue-cured Tobacco Seed & Storage Technology Of Primed Pelleted Flue-cured Tobacco Seed

The storage conditions and the level of scientific management during storage influence the seed vigor directly.In present research,the male-sterile seeds of flue-cured tobacco and the primed pelleted tobacco seeds were used to investigate the effects of seed selection, pretreatment(priming) and storage condition on seed and pelleted seed quality and the seedling growth.The main results were as follows:1.The seed selection and pelleting not only could reduce the cost of seeding but also could prevent the diseases and inspects,thereby increase farmers' income.Moreover,they could establish the images of seed.Seeds are the organisms which have life activities.The inherent quality of seed changes because seeds continue their metabolic activities during the period from harvest to re-planting and are influenced by external environment.2.The effects of manual and mechanical selection on seed quality were studied,using MS Yunyan 87 seeds as materials which were selected once before.The results showed that compared with the control,the seed quality was improved by manpower and machine seed selection.The 1000-grain weight,germination energy,germination percentage,germination index and the synchronous index were all improved.By comparison,the effects of manual selection were superior to mechanical selection.For manual selection,the effects of manual selection with three times were the best.3.The effects of manual and mechanical selection on pelleted seed size and production yield were studied using MS Yunyan 87 seeds as t materials which were selected once before. The results showed that the effects of mechanical selection were superior to manual selection, the production yield and uniformity of pelleted seed was better after seeds selected by machine.4.In order to investigate the effects of priming temperature,priming time and GA₃ concentration on the germination of pelleted seeds and seedling growth under the temperature of 25℃,two tobacco varieties,MS Yunyan87 and MS K326 were used in this study.Results showed that the appropriate priming treatment of GA₃ improved the indexes of germination and seed vigor,shorten the average time of germination,and increased seedling height and dry weight.Comparing all indexes,it was demonstrated that seed vigor and seedling growth were excellent when pelleted seeds were primed for 36 hours with the GA₃ concentration of 100mg/L under the temperatures of 20℃and 25℃.5.Comparing the effects of storage temperature and packaging Materials on seed germination of MS Yunyan85 and Ms Yunyan87,the study found that(1) The germination percentage of two flue-cured tobacco varieties was the highest when seeds stored under the condition of 16-18℃;(2) The cloth-bags,brown-colored glass bottles and plastic bags were suitable for using as package materials,but the paper bags were not suitable for using as package materials when seeds were stored under -1℃condition.The results suggested that the cloth-bags were suitable for flue-cured tobacco seeds storage,and the seeds should stored under 16～18℃condition.
