From July 2006 to June 2007, cage culture experiment of Monopterus albus was carried on in the same pond, the gonadal development and productivity had been studied, the results are as follows:1. In cage culture condition, the development process of Gonad is complete, gonadal development of Monopterus albus is normal.2. Gonadal development of Monopterus albus is divided into three stages, they are stages of female, intersex and male. Female stage includesⅠtoⅥ, intersex stage includesⅠandⅡ, male stage includes I to VI. In different development stages, gonad is mainly included by the corresponding reproductive cells, sometimes there are other phases of reproductive cells exist, the development speed of reproductive cells is not consistent.3. Female Monopterus albus were divided into 3 groups by length in the trial, they were 296-350mm group, 351-400mm group and 401-442mm group. Statistic result of the eggs show that: In cage culture condition, gonad coefficient and egg drive have no significant difference among the 3 groups(P>0.05). Absolute fecundity is increased with length, its range is 532±87-714±142 tablets, there are no significant difference among the groups(P>0.05). The change scope of relative fecundity (AF/L) is 1.63±0.27-1.74±0.31 tablets/mm, there are no significant difference among the groups (P>0.05). The change scope of relative fecundity (AF/W) is 7.89±1.57-11.96±1.96 tablets/g, there are also no significant difference among the groups(P>0.05).
