The Study And Establishment Of Management System For New Plant Varieties Of Forestry

In recent years, with the application of new plant varieties gradually increasing, the examination, approval and management for new plant varieties are more difficult. The method that new plant varieties are dealt with has been unable to meet the current situation, so it is necessary to study and develop 'the Management System for New Plant Varieties of Forestry'.This paper introduces the concepts of the new plant varieties, the purpose of studying management system and the status quo both at home and abroad. And then the paper explicates the examination and approval processes of new plant varieties in China, including some examinations, granting variety rights, and other steps. Besides, the author analyzes various needs of the management system for new plant varieties of forestry, including: the approval for varieties, the management of acceptance varieties, the security mechanism of the management system and so on.The author also designs the overall structure of the system, the concept structure of the database and the physical structure of the database. Some concepts are put forward, such as Qualitative Characteristics Distance, Quantitative characteristics Distance, Pseudo-Qualitative Characteristics Distance. Then the algorithm for searching similar varieties is designed. Further, the author designs the subsystem for logining, the subsystem for examining varieties, the subsystem for dealing with acceptance varieties, the subsystem for searching similar varieties and the subsystem for setting system parameters. In order to improve the efficiency of the system, some storage processes are designed at the database server.Finally, using SQL Server 2000, VC and ADO technologies, the author designs and establishes the algorithm for searching similar varieties and the management system for new plant varieties of forestry, and then tests the system. On the whole, the results are expected.
