Cropping with high yield, good quality, high efficiency, safety and ecological health is the overall goal of agriculture development in China, and to enlarge the scale of high-efficiency agriculture is the inevitable choice of agriculture in Jiangsu Province. There has the base of fruit-crop intercropping history and rapid development in Ningzhen hilly regions only with high yield and scale. In aim to improve the cultivation technology for good quality, safety and high efficiency, we studied the growth rules of juicy peach and grape which was in typical in the orchard of the region and their Standardized cultivation technology from 2005 to 2006. The main results were as follows:Under the condition of hilly region, the canopy area of 7-year-old juicy peach (Liangji) was 21.2 m~2. Its root diameter was 12.6 cm with an average length of fruit branch of 20.7cm, and about 86.9% of fruit branches were 40cm below. These results showed that the growth of 7-year-old Liangji had reached its balance. The average length of new shoots of 16-year-old Kyoho Grape "X"-shaped using plain shelf was 68.6cm with a shoot formation ratio of about 71.7%, and the length of about 62.6% shoots was between 50cm and 150cm. These data indicated that the growth of Kyoho rape was in its order. The ratio of the trunk cross section area to the canopy area was 0.83 indicating that the canopy enlarged along with the trunk thickening. The first main branch occupied the most area of about 34.8%, and the fourth about 18.5%, whereas the second main branch and the third were about 21.7% and 24.5%, respectively.New shoot growth of juicy peach showed a doubled "S" curve, and significantly different impact of fruit growth on new shoot formation occurred among varieties with different mature period. We found that fruit expansion of juicy peach showed doubled "S" curve with three expansion periods. In general, the expansion periodâ…¡(harden time) was 50-70 days. Early maturing variety (Qiandaiji) had the shortest time of periodâ…¡, and middle or late maturing varieties (Liangji) with longest time.New shoot growth of Kyoho grape showed a significantly doubled "S" curve. It grew fast before flowering, then sloweddown and stopped growing when fruit maturing. Its fruit growth was similar to the juicy peach fruit, and showed three expansion periods, too. It showed that the increment of fruit weight was greatest during the first and the third period. Data indicated that the weight per grape grain was about 43% of the total weight when matured and the soluble solid content was 5.05%. The result in the second and third period was 14.5%, 10% and 57.3%, 16.8% respectively.Subsoil plowing decreased significantly soil bulk density at the depth of 20cm and 40cm by 2.19% and 10.59%, respectively, compared to the control in the orchard with clay soil. The stretch range of peach roots was enlarged obviously and the quantity of roots increased by 32.6% and 43.5% under the subsoil plowing treatment after one year and two years, respectively. The result showed that the reach depth of the roots was deeper than the control, indicating great nutrition uptake and drought resistance.Fruit inter-planting with grass could enhance resource use efficiency and organic matter input to the soils of orchard. The yield of fresh grass could up to 4686.9kg/ha at the natural condition in the hilly region. This contributed to the improvement of the soil structure and the micro-environment condition of the orchard. Investigation showed that inter-planting with grass decreased soil temperature, and increased soil humidity of the orchard. These results indicated that inter-planting with grass in the orchard could not regulate the orchard micro-climate but be meaningful to the fruit quality improvement.
