The thesis consists of four charpters. The first charpter reports the advanced research on the chemical constituents, the bioactivities and the extractive techniques of tea polyphenols. The second charpter reports the chemical constituents of Camellia reticulata and their antioxidant activity. C. reticulate, which is a special species in China, has been cultivated for more than 1000 years in Yunnan province. In Chinese traditional medicine, with the function of stanch blood, detoxicate and anti-dysentery, it is often used in the treatment of hematemesis, hemafecia, menorrhagia, diarrhea, burn, and so on. However, there is little research on the chemical constituents of C. reticulate. So the antioxidant compounds of C. reticulate were done in this project. Seven known phenolic compounds, five of them showed significant antioxidant activity, were isolated from C. reticulata. Based on the data of 1D and 2D NMR, MS and TLC, they were identified as gallic acid (1), methyl gallate (2), 1,2,3,6-tetra-O-galloyl-β-D-glucopyranose (3), 1,6-bis-O-galloyl-2,3-hexahydroxydiphenoyl-β-D-glucopyranose (4), galloyl gallate (5), quercetin (6) and kaempferol (7) respectively. The antioxidant activity is 3 > 4 > 6 > 1 > 5 > Vc > 2 > 7 by scanvenging 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. The antioxidant activity of 3, 4 and 5 is reported for the first time. The third charpter reports the chemical constituents of Heteropanax fragrans. It mainly distributes in Yunnan( XiShuangBanNan, HeKou ), Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan province in China, and it distributes in India, Bhutan, Sikkim, Bengal, Burma and Indonesia. It is a good ornamental in many cities. In Chinese traditional medicine, it is used in the treatment of burn, snakebite, furunculosis, cold, diuresis, and so on. However, there is little research on the chemical constituents of H. fragrans. In order to extend the chemical constituents research on H. fragrans, the author did this work. Five compounds were isolated from H. fragrans, Based on the data of 1D and 2D NMR and MS, they were identified as chlorogenic acid (1), neochlorogenic acid (2), n-pentyl-β-D-fructofuranoside (3), balanophonin 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) and 4,4',9-trihydroxy-3,3',5-trimethoxy-4-β-D-glucopyranoside-...
