Combining ability, genetic effect, heredity correlation and heterosis of 14 quantitative characters in 5 inbred lines of cherry tomato with good comprehension characteristics were studied by designed with the Griffing complete diallel crosses method one. The results were as follow:The result of combining ability analysis showed that, genetic variations of most of 14 quantitative traits were significant. Q01 was one good parent for high yield and good quality combination. Q03 was one ideal parent for good quality combination. Q01 × Q03 was a good quality combination, and Q02×Q05 was a high yield combination. The result of genetic effects analysis showed that, general combining ability variationswere higher than those of special combining ability in total soluble sugar, titrationable acid, sugar acid ratio, vitamin C, lycopene, soluble solid, fruit width, fruit length, fruit index andNo. of fruit per plant. These meant that all these 10 traits, controlled by additive effect genes, could be stable genetic and selected by pedigree method. The special combining abilityvariations were higher than general combining ability variations, heritability lower andheterosis higher in fruit weight, fruitflesh thickness, and yield per plant. These meant thatthese 3 traits ,controlled by non-additive effect genes, could not be stable genetic and shouldbe used by heterosis breeding method. The traits of fruit index , fruit width, and lycopene withhigh heritability in the broad sense and in the narrow sense were suitable to the earlygeneration selection because of the low environmental effects. The traits of yield per plant, soluble sugar, soluble solid, vitamin C, and carotene with high heritability in the broad senseand low heritability in the narrow sense should be selected at the late generation because ofthe big environmental effects. The trait of sugar acid ratio with lower heritability in the broadsense and in the narrow sense was not effect for selection.Correlation analysis of quality characteristicses showed that the correlation were higher among most quality characteristicses in cherry tomato. So that one of the quality characteristics could be selected by the other correlated quality characteristics. The path analysis of yield characteristicses showed that No. of fruit per plant and fruit weight were two...
