China has introduced a large number of exotic tree species since long time ago. Many of the introduced exotic trees have contributed greatly to social and economic development and ecological improvement. However, there is still potential of damages could be caused by planting exotic trees such as biological invasion and other negative ecological impacts. In recent years, with the development of international trade and the increase of communication among people, the biological invasion becomes more and more serious. In China the study about the biological invasion of exotic trees started relatively late compared to other countries. Especially the information about exotic trees drops behind. Information and databases on exotic trees are not well developed although a national network of tree introduction and domestication was set up for many years. Due to the lack of information sharing and exchange, there are still frequently repetition of research projects on introduction of exotic tree species. Very little study was carried out to monitor the risks of exotic trees, neither a warning system was developed. It is of urgent need to establish a monitoring and early warning system to predict and monitor the potential risks of using exotic trees. 21 century is the information century. Geographic Information System has many advantages such as dynamic manage and alarm. Therefore GIS has a very bright future in application in this field.Firstly, the paper describes some conceptions such as biological invasion, Geographic Information System and early warning. Followed by an explanation of the structure of the information system on exotic trees. The system includes five data bases: the namelist database, the basic information database, the cultivation database, the invasion database and the pictures database. The structure of the database is designed as follows: the name of fields, the length of fields, the abbreviation of fields and the content of fields. Taking the Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. as an example, operation of the databases and data manipulation were demonstrated.Secondly this paper introduces two kinds of software: Mapinfo and Arcgis. It explains in detail the process of drawing maps. The maps include two kinds of maps: the map of provinces and the map of counties. It also has some special maps. These...
