13 kinds of alfalfa materials were studied with the Logistic model to evaluate the dynamics of the growth trait in Jianghuai region, others growth traits such as growth period, growth rate, leaf stem ratio, tiller number were also studied in this experiment, the principal component analysis and cluster analysis were used to comprehensive evaluate these materials. The main results show as follow:1. All the alfalfa materials can grow regularly in Jiaghuai regions, and can be cutted 4 times, the growth days were 60 days, 30 days, 27 days, 2 months aestivation period were founded in Jianghuai region, these material were not scorched in winter but stopped growing, All the materials during the whole growth period can not pod, the early flowering stage of different alfalfa varieties with a difference of about 1 to 9 days.2. The average growth rate of alfalfa in the Jianghuai region was about 2.07 cm/d. The growth rate of different cutting times showed that: the third cutting > the second cutting > the first cutting > Before summer >the fourth cutting, the growth rate of WL323 was higher than other varieties in each growth period.3. All the materials showed a growth trend of "slow-fast-slow", different harvest times showed different trend. The first crop showed higher potential growth, and with the longest stagnation time and longest time to reach the highest growth rate; the stagnation time before summer was significantly higher than the second crop, the third group, but significantly lower than the first group and the fourth group, which may be accumulation of nutriments were affected by high temperature, but the maximum growth rate was significantly higher than the others crops; the restore growth ability of the fourth crop lowed during the forth crop, and the stagnation times was higher in this crop, the average growth rate was also lowed than others crops. Comprehensive analysis the plant height rhythm of different varieties showed that, WL323 and PL55 showed the higher potential growth ability and the continuing growth ability during each growth period.4. The leaf stem ratio of each crop of alfalfa showed that: first crop was the lowest, with the value of 0.62 to 0.85 and the average value was 0.68; the leaf stem ratio of 8920MF of the second crop reached the highest value of 1.45, the average leaf stem ratio of whole year was 0.86, alfalfa GL0601 with the lowest leaf stem ratio of 0.79.5. the tiller ability showed that: the first crop showed the highest tiller ability, the number of branches per 20cm section was 107.1-160.80, the tiller ability decreased during the later crop. The difference among each material were significant, the average tiller number of PL55,GL0602 and AmeriGraze of four crops was higher than others, but the crown with lower tiller ability.6. Seen from the two years fresh yield, the second crop of the first year as the main output accounted for 43% of the total production; the first crop of the second year as the main output accounted for 46% of the total production. Alfalfa WL323 and PL55 showed the highest average yield, and the difference with other materials was significantly (P <0.01).7. Six agronomic traits of was attributed to three irrelevant component using principal component analysis, and the three component are: plant height, yield factor and leaf stem ratio, and the three factors provided 84.141% information. The test material were attributed to three main type using cluster analysis, the WL323, PL55, L90 showed higher yield, whole year height, tiller number than other materials, more suitable to southern climate conditions and can be planted wide area .
