A great deal of excavation is very common in the project construction. The excavation destroys the former vegetation and leads to many bare soil or rock slopes. Then the serious soil erosion comes into being and the balance of ecological environment is broken. Slope protection with vegetation is a kind of new technology which is used to stabilize rock slopes and beautify the ecological environment at the same time. Its theory is that vegetation can contain water and pin up the soil. It's a comprehensive engineering technology that involved geotechnical engineering, resumptive bionomics and botany etc. The basic indicator of the design of slope protection by plant is the reinforcement capability of the plant roots. The complexity and variability of the force born by the plant roots in the medium of the rock make the figuring of the reinforcement capability very difficult. The design and figuring of the vegetation for slope protection is still in the process of experiencing in lots of projects.By reading a lot of foreign and domestic literature and summarizing the results of previous studies done by the predecessors, the mechanics model between the plantation roots and soil is set up in this paper through the analysis of the interaction between them, and the relationship between the arrangement of the vegetation roots and the increase of the cohesion and the anti-shear strength of soil is analyzed quantitatively, based on the experiment. Tangential reinforcement capability is one of the important parameters which plays a key role in controlling the expansion of soil, the separation of layers and shear destroying in the design of slope protection for woody plants. In this paper, the experimental model of shear reinforcement capability of roots is built up, and the theoretical calculation solution of the slope protection capability of single root according to the role mechanism of vegetation for slope protection and experimental analysis. Therefore, the theoretical basis is provided for the design of plantation for slope protection. The new method of dimensional slope-fixing is put forward in the paper according to the hydrological and hydraulic effects of plantation for slope protection. This method has got a good effect through the study of feasibility and the analysis of stability of engineer, and will offer an important theoretical significance and applied value for slope protection of plantation of the future. Besides, this paper presents the theory of vegetation for slope protection of the original ecosystem from the perspective of the original ecosystem. This theory combines the qualities of stability, coordination, adaptability, aesthetics, environmental friendliness and economy. In the process of selection of the slope vegetation, the author standardizes the various factors that can affect the greening of the slope, based on the theory of plant community succession. Moreover, the author calculates the order of the influential factors and chooses the best plant species of dimensional slope-fixing of original ecosystem, making use of mathematical analysis. In the last part of the paper, the project design and the construction methods used in the slope protection of plantation of practical project are put forward, combining with specific project example. It has been tested that the anti-scour effects of the vegetation for slope protection are good through the observation of the experiment of vegetation for slope protection in the practical project. Moreover, it's slope stability is proved through the analysis of mechanics model, which will have an important supervising function for the practical engineer.
