In order to study the application and development status and collect first-hand information, we have been to large flower production companies, such as South Fujian Flowers Co., Ltd. (Zhangzhou), Xiamen Airport Flora Technology Co., Ltd., Quanzhou Quanmei Horticulture, etc., and public facilities, such as main parks, street greening, public green area, flower expo, garden fair, etc.. Based on the survey analysis, to find out the problems of herbaceous flowers industry and suggestions on the future development of herbaceous flowers in South Fujian has been brought up.The surveys found that in this area there are some problems in the development and application of herbaceous flowers as follows:First, dynamics of scientific research and development of herbaceous flowers production is not enough, research and development strength either is not enough so that planting technique is out of day. It was lack of research on the species of herbaceous flowers planting. Second, herbaceous flowers industry was not enough in scale, industrialization and specialization. Market competition was not better enough. Manufacturing technique in all is relatively backward. Third, Because of problems of the species of herbaceous flowers, it was fairly simple in its application. The landscape design is in lower level. Particularly, we are serious shortage of set decorators. The fourth, herbaceous flowers production is mainly applied on holidays but is lesser in daily days.Therefore, to combine with the advantage of locality, we should do something as follows:First, invigorating flowers through science and technology. Intensify the strength of scientific research and technology, to reinforce the work of recommendation and seed selection to move forward a single step to take advantage of wild herbaceous flowers. Next, seizing the opportunity to cooperate with Taiwan and Holland and to give prominence to features of South Fujian region. We should make effort to increase the flower production level as scale, specialization and production so that we can strengthen the market competitiveness of South Fujian herbaceous flowers. Third, make more efforts to train one troop of application and designation with higher level for herbaceous flowers in order to enhance its application level. At the same time, we ought to expand the interior decoration and vertical greening and so on.
