Background: Acute pancreatitis, a common clinical disease and its incidence trends to raise in recent years. AP is an acute abdominal pain with complex mechanism, sudden onset, dangerous state, many complications, high mortality and difficult therapy. Therefore, the therapies of AP are always popular with clinical researches. A large number of literaturess show that integrated traditional chinese and western medicine has superiority in curing AP, compared with pure Western medicine. But the Chinese medicine profession learn is inadequate to master the clinical research methods, and it is not format the Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment of clinical disease, the efficacy and safety evaluation methods and systems, thus it is greatly affect the authenticity and reliability of the conclusions of the study, so the value of the test will be difficult to get the promotion and the medical community at home and abroad recognition. At present, Meta analysis is a research methods recognized by the international medical community. Meta-analysis carried out in integrated traditional chinese and western medicine treatment field, is conducive to the clinical efficacy of Chinese and Western medicine to provide objective, reliable scientific evidence, and is conducive to the international academic exchanges, promote the modernization of Chinese medicine development. Objective: After comprehensive and systematic understanding of Integrative treatment of acute pancreatitis clinical studies in the research design, analysis, efficacy and other aspects of the current situation and existing problems, we are to assess the overall level of the quality of research, to system analysis Integrative efficacy of the treatment of SP and make a real and objective evaluation, guiding rational use of traditional Chinese medicine in clinic. Methods: We get literatures about Chinese and Western medicine treatments for AP through retrieving CNKI, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform and Chinese sci-tech periodical full-text database(CQVIP). Retrieve and screen literatures according to strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, further, use Jadad scale to access the randomized controlled trials. literatures can be included when its score is ≥ 2. This article analyze the efficacy of integrative treatment of AP by the use of Stata SE12 software, quantificationally and systematically. Results There are the final 54 randomized controlled documents met the inclusion criteria, patients with a total of 4136 cases. All of the literatures did not report the way to determine the sample size. According to the results of the meta-analysis:Integrated traditional chinese and western medicine treatment of AP overall clinical efficacy is more efficient than conventional western medicine, the the combined effect value OR=4.03, the 95%CI(3.17, 5.12), the test of the combined effect(test for Overall Effect), Z=11.38,P< 0.001; the remission time of abdominal pain, the the combined effect value SMD=-1.40, the 95%CI(-1.72,-1.08), Z=8.47, P< 0.001; the rate of morbidity, the the combined effect value RR=0.48, the 95%CI(0.39, 0.59), Z=6.94, P< 0.001; the rate of mortality, the the combined effect value RR=0.38, the 95%CI(0.27, 0.53), Z=5.59, P< 0.001; the total time of hospital stay, he the combined effect value SMD=-1.10, the95%CI(-1.52,-0.69) Z=5.24, P< 0.001, the two groups has statistically significant, the treatment group were excellented in the control group;Integrated traditional chinese and western medicine treatment were better than conventional western medicine in overall clinical efficacy, remission time of abdominal pain, the rate of morbidity and mortality, the total time of hospital stay. By Egger’s linear regression test, all of them showed the publication bias but remission time of abdominal pain and the total time of hospital stay for outcomes indexes. However, due to the low quality of the included studies, publication bias and other reasons, there were heterogeneity for continuous variables to quantitative analysis. Conclusion According to above the results of the meta-analysis, integrated traditional chinese and western medicine of AP maybe have a certain effect in improving overall effective rate, cutting remission time of abdominal pain, the total length of hospital stay and reducing rate of mortality and morbidity. But the quality of the most of 54 literatures met the inclusion criteria is low. Therefore, due to methodology, heterogeneity and publication bias, the combined results reliability of Meta-analysis would need more large, prospective, randomized controlled trials to verify.
