Purpose:To evaluate the systematic reviews/meta-analyses of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) for treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis.Method:Searching databases including Cochrane Library, Pub Med, EMbase, CBM, CNKI, VIP and Wan Fang Data from January 1994 to December 2014 to collect the systematic reviews/meta-analyses of TCM for treatment of chronic glomerulonephritis. Screening literature according to the inclusion criteria, extracting data, and using GRADEpro3.6 software to evaluate the quality of evidence. AMSRAR was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the included studies, and PRISMA was used to evaluate quality of the report of the included studies.Results:17 systematic reviews were included, describing 12 outcomes, only one study showed moderate level evidence in terms of clinical efficiency, reducing proteinuria and no significantly reducing serum creatinine, the rest showed low or very low level of evidence. The PRISMA scores were between 9-25 points, and the AMSTAR scores were between 1-7 points. Conclusion:The level of evidence of the included studies are low, and the methodological quality and the quality of the report need to be improved. The researchers should be careful to use the evidence, and it’s important to carry out more multi-center and large sample size clinical trials.
