Clinical Study Of Ophthalmic Therapy In The Treatment Of Post - Stroke Depression

Purpose：To observe the clinical curative effect that eye acupuncture in thetreatment of depression after stroke, thus to explore a simple and reliableacupuncture therapy for the treatment of this disease, so as to relieving thepain of patients and improving the quality of patients’life.Material and method：During October2012-December2013, hospitalizedpatients whose conditions accorded with post-stroke depression diagnosisstandard were selected in Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University ofTraditional Chinese Medicine A District ward of acupuncture and moxibustion.Based on random number table method these patients were devided into two groupsaccording to the proportion of1:1.40cases in the control group,40cases inthe treatment group. Patients in the control group used normal body acupuncturetreatment, while patients in the treatment group adopted eye acupuncturetreatment, the main points of which were the upper energizer area, the middleburner area and liver area. Each time needles were retained for30minutes andlined every10to15minutes for1times a day,4weeks’treatment altogether.The patients of two groups were given marks and curative effect evaluation withthe application of Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD)24edition,depression self rating scale (SDS) before treatment and4weeks after treatment.Results：1. There were significant differences between HAMD scores and SDS scores of twogroups before and after treatment (P <0.05), which reminded that in treatmentof depression after stroke the treatment group and control group were botheffective.2. There were significant differences between HAMD scores and SDS scores of twogroups4weeks after treatment (P <0.05), which prompted that eye needle therapy is more effective than body acupuncture treatment on depression after cerebralapoplexy.Conclusion：1. Eye acupuncture treatment is effective in the treatment of depression afterstroke.2. The clinical curative effect of eye acupuncture therapy in the treatment ofdepression after stroke is better than that of body acupuncture therapy.
