Acne is a kind of skin disease concerning chronic inflammation. It arises in hair follicle sebaceous glands. It often triggers high rates for the young, ranging from several months to more than ten years. The disease can not only damage facial skin but also have serious impact on patient’s body and mind. The causes of the disease are very complex, basically correlated with endocrine, hair follicle sebaceous glands catheter hyperkeratosis, microbial infection, inflammation, skin barrier damage, immune system and genetic factors, bad living habits, environmental pollution etc. Which factor causing the disease has not been proved at all. It could be thought that it is not a single element but a variety of pathogenic factors influencing each other. Dating back to ancient times doctors have had rich experience in the process of healing the disease-acne. As a result, its curative effect is remarkable, it has less side effect and doesn’t relapse easily. The causes of the disease mainly include body’heat, melancholy, phlegm, dampness, blood stasis, toxin and body weakness. In the methods of diagnosis and treatment, they usually consist of syndrome differentiation of five viscera, eight principles, yin and yang, identification different types of patients’physical fitness and artificial cycle taking traditional Chinese medicine. Some doctors combine traditional Chinese medicine with modern medicine, for example, the relationship between syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine and the sex hormone levels in the blood, syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine and the facial bacteria. Due to the complexity of the etiology and pathogenesis of acne, so traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation classification and the objective evaluation remain to be further research in future.My supervisor Xingguang Li concentrates on studies tradition Chinese medical science. He has been devoted himself to teaching, scientific research and clinic practice for several decades. He has made great academic achievements and original thinking. He has also got much experience in curing acne. He has put forward the point of his view especially for the female patients that the disease location is in liver and spleen. My supervisor thinks the illness results from body’s heat, asthenia, blood stasis and melancholy. In a word, it is lack of competence, belonging to deficiency in origin and excess in symptom. He created a good clinic prescription--Qihuang anti-acne potion.Purpose:The study aims to observe the clinical effect of treatment of female patients’ acne after they take the medicine--Qihuang anti-acne potion in order to provide clinical basis for Chinese medicine treatment of acne.Experimental methods:The data in the study were taken from 201 cases of clinic patients from in January,2011 to in January,2012. All the subjects were the female patients who came from the Guoyitang out-patient department of Beijing university of Chinese medicine. Every patient was asked to take the medicine by oral 150ml, three times a day after meals. A course of treatment was four weeks, lasting two courses. After that the procedure and effect of treatment were observed and analyzed. It consisted of acne skin damage and clinical symptoms parts. Their effect of treatments were evaluated by quantitative integral.Results:(1) Statistic of curative effect to skin damage of acne:There were 64 cases for clinical recovery of the patients, obvious effective patients were 87 cases, the number of effective patients was 34 cases, there existed 16 cases no healing effective patients. Therefore markedly effective rate was 75.12%, effective rate was 92.04%. Through the acne skin integral comparison between before and after treatments, P<0.01, there was a very significant difference. (2) Statistic of curative effect by traditional Chinese medicine, the number as following:80 cases of clinical recovery,89 cases of obvious effect,29 cases of healing effect, 3 cases of no any effect. As a result, the markedly effective rate was 84.08%, effective rate was 98.51%. Through symptom integral the traditional Chinese medicine comparison between before and after treatment, P<0.01, it shows that there is a very significant difference. They indicate the curative effect is remarkable.Conclusion:(1)Qihuang anti-acne potion has obvious therapeutic effect for female patients, it can significantly improve elimination of acne skin nature, quantity, color, sore symptoms. (2)Qihuang anti-acne potion has also improved symptoms of the traditional Chinese medicine, and quality of their lives for female patients. (3)The medicine has high safety and no distinct adverse reactions. (4)Qihuang anti-acne potion is a tpye of effective formula in the treatment of acne through clinical research because it is not only scientific and precise but also good for Qi, eliminate acne, soothing liver, strengthen spleen, detoxicate body and resolving blood stasis.
