Treatment Of Vitiligo By Traditional Chinese Medicine

Vitiligo is one of the common diseases of dermatology, which is in a condition that the local melanocytes are damaged and the ability to produce melanin is decreased,resulting in the depigmentation of skin. Vitiligo directly affects the appearance of the patients, has a negative impact on their psychological pressure and leads to a reduced quality of life. At present there are various therapies for treating vitiligo, such as glucocorticoids, immunomodulators,light therapy, transplant therapy,etc.But some therapies have big side effects and the efficacy is not satisfactory.It has a long history of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of vitiligo,and it is easily accepted by patients for the definite therapeutic effect,the reasonable price and the small side effects. In recent years, there are more and more clinical reports about traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of vitiligo. This paper explores the medication rule through searching and doing statistical analysis on literatures of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of vitiligo.This paper consists of literature review, tutor’s experience and literature research. The literature review consists of two parts.The first part is about the progress of vitiligo in Chinese medical research, which including the review of the historical names,the symptoms,the etiology and pathogenesis, the therapies;the summary of the experience and knowledge of the famous expert of traditional Chinese medicine; the progress of the etiology and pathogenesis, the therapies in recent years.The second part is about the progress of vitiligo in modern Chinese medicine,which including the summary of the etiology, the pathogenesis and the treatment progress. Tutor’s experience introduces his knowledge to the pathogenic factor and pathogenesis of vitiligo and experience in treating vitiligo.The way of the literature research is searching relational literature reported between lth January,2000 and 31th December,2014 from CNKI,VIP,CBM and Wanfang data about traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of vitiligo, collecting the prescriptions in the literatures, doing statistical analysis on the the category of the traditional Chinese medicines, efficacy, nature and flavor, channel tropism through the Microsoft Excel.There are 44 accepting criteria literatures,Involved in 4284 cases (2175 male patients, the percentage is 50.77%.2109 female patients, the percentage is 49.23%),49 prescriptions,90 traditional Chinese medicine. The totally medication frequency is 529,and 25131 person-times.The top 10 frequency kind of the herbs in the prescriptions is fructus psoralea, tribulus terrestrisl, angelica sinensis, tuberfleeceflower, safflower, astragalus, red peony root, salvia, glycyrrhiza, angelica.According to the total herb number, medication frequency and person-times, the top 3 category of the traditional Chinese medicine is the reinforcing deficiency herbs, the blood-activating and the stasis-dissolving herbs,the heat-clearing herbs, the most popular traditional Chinese medicine is warm herbs,the top 3 nature and flavor of the traditional Chinese medicine is the sweet herbs, the bitter herbs,the acrid herbs, the top 3 channel tropism is the liver channel,the kidney channel, the spleen channel.Conclusion:Liver,kidney,spleen are the main viscera lesions of vitiligo in the modern Chinese medicine and the main syndrome types are the deficiency of liver and kidney condition,the Qi stagnation and blood stasis condition,the wind-heat condition.The therapy of vitiligo is based on the syndrome differentiation and treatment.The treatment emphasizes nourishing liver and kidney, the blood-activating and the stasis-dissolving treatment and the wind-displiiing and heat-clearing treatment are used as hypurglas. Reinforcing deficiency herbs, warm herbs, the sweet herbs, the bitter herbs,the acrid herbs are used frequently,and the herbs belong to the liver channel,the kidney channel, the spleen channel are used widely.
