Background:Professor Shukun Yao is a digestive disease expert of Chinese and Western medicine, being especially good at the treatment of functional gastrointestinal disease, liver disease and other miscellaneous diseases. He thinks through deeply about Chinese-western medicine and has his own special opinions. Along with the development of modern society and the progress of science and technology, great changes have taken place in ancient and modern disease, thus the causes have had a world of difference. Improper diet mainly damages the digestive system. Functional constipation is one of the examples. The master tutor created "the three elements-heaven diet therapy" in clinical, calorie restriction related therapy (fasting, feed-break, less-eating, inedia, etc) is the most important part. They have been accepted by lots of countries and applied to clinical, as well as playing a good role in the treatment and prevention of many chronic diseases. Functional constipation (FC) is a common disease in the modern society. Domestic crowd incidence was 6%. The occurrence rate of over 60 year’s old people is as high as 15%-20%. At present, with the increasing aging population, it has disturbed the residents’daily life more and more seriously. The research and treatment of Chinese-western medicine on FC both have its own advantages and disadvantages. Experts complement each other in clinical and achieve good effects from combined therapy.Purpose:Professor Yao has been engaged in clinical study of Chinese-western medicine treatment for functional gastrointestinal diseases for 30 years. He has special understanding about the different thinking mode between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine, and effectively guides the clinical practice. This article discusses the ways of professor Yao’s thinking on Chinese-western medicine, while taking FC for an example, to aim at providing new ideas for FC or other related disease and hoping to inspire the clinical. Methods:Firstly I consult a large number of literature materials, stating the TCM and western medicine understanding as well as research recent situation of FC, and summarize "Calorie restriction related therapy" which Professor Yao understands deeply in and uses skillfully with. At last, I’ll summarize the master tutor’s thinking characteristic of Chinese-western medicine and clinical experience of FC through my experiences of two years’ clinical, lectures listening and ward-rounds.Results:Through the literature review I found Chinese and western medicine both have a respectively complete and unique understanding about FC, and there are many examples in correlation of diagnosis and treatment. However, fundamental researches are too little. Calorie restriction related therapy is still in initial stage at home. From the recent research and clinical application, it has good prospects and is worth spreading. Professor Yao has been engaged in clinical for functional gastrointestinal diseases for 30 years, established a combination of TCM theory, modern medical research and clinical practice, and a set of unique medical system gradually formed. In many years’ clinic work, he found FC that belongs to "spleen and stomach damp-heat" have become more and more in recent years, which has close relationship with unhealthy eating habits. Using the five dampness-eliminating method (clearing heat and drying dampness, inducing diuresis with bland drug, invigorating spleen to remove dampness, resolving dampness with aroma, regulating qi to remove dampness) to compose prescription in clinic, adding with Forlax, Bacteria regulate drug or mosapride if necessary, while combined with "moderate diet therapy", produces better results. Conclusion:Professor Yao has been engaged in clinical for more than 30 years, using his original thinking of Chinese-western medicine to guide clinical diagnosis and treatment of FC, and obtained good effects. Improper diet is not only the inducement of many chronic illnesses, but also become a major social problem. Professor yao’s method of using "the three elements-heaven diet therapy" to help solving long lasting and stubborn recurrent chronic diseases makes great sense in the clinical. |
