In the Eighties of the last century, the research of medical social history has emerged in Taiwan and the mainland, and the medical problems that have not been paid much attention now are becoming the subjects of many researchers, which thus formed an upsurge in the research of medical social history. As I believe, one of the social history research’s most valuable orientations is turning from the national, political, and other big shots to whose little people who are humble and have no influence, and the small events. The social history closely related to people’s health and life should attach great importance to the civilians, medical resources and the ordinary doctors. The paper has selected the periods of Han and Tang Dynasties and focused on analysis of the civil doctors’cases. This paper is divided into three chapters: The first chapter focuses on the medical people’s types in Han and Tang dynasty including Medical Officer, folk healing people and catechumens. The medical officers, referring to the medical people under the direct management of the government, are mainly responsible for the medical care of the court and the nobility. As the limited number of doctors in the traditional society and the large number of civil society groups and patients, some people can’t afford the medical treatments under the circumstances, therefore folk healing people (doctors and the secular monk, said doctors who) became a folk medical the main carrier of the market.Chen Yange once said:"due to religious spread, multi-day count of false science of medicine is the method." Relationship between Buddhism, Taoism and medicine would be sufficient to prove what Mr. Chen said, and the monk during their missionary were also therapy especially in remote areas, which make up for the shortage of medical activities in that kind of area. In addition to the medical officers and civil doctors, catechumens are also actively involved in health careThe second chapter takes a overview of the Han and Tang Dynasties folk healing people. In general, there are five main reasons for studying medicine:interests, stable, doing good, for the money and being an official. As for the way of studying medicine, the author in the text divided it into three categories:self-study, teach and official school mentoring, and mentoring can also be divided into family learning to teach, temple medical school education and apprentice. The third chapter focuses on the medical treatment in Han and Tang from the perspective of medicine distribution, treatment subjects and medical standards. The fourth chapter is the summary section, which summarizes the roles of medical doctors in Han and Tang Dynasties, and gives a brief description of their low social status. During Han and Tang Dynasties, although civil doctors in private medical practice and medical technology, such as inheritance and propagation play an important role, but its identity is still very humble social status of a person is still relatively low.
