Objective: To observe the effects of exercise therapy in theprevention and treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Methods: To Select50cases improved and discharged patients with kneeosteoarthritis at Sichuan orthopedic hospital in December2012to April2013.Randomly divided into exercise and control groups, each group of25patients.The exercise group using exercise therapy, and the control group using quadricepstraining methods. Two groups were trained three times a week for12weeks, thenfollow-up once a month for6months. Finally, observed the WOMAC scale scores, proprioception and the relapse rate of6months for two groups of patients before andafter training.Results:(1).The WOMAC scale scores of exercise group were significantlylower than before the training, and the control group obtained similar results, exceptthe anchylosis score. The WOMAC scale scores were significant differences betweentwo groups of patients after the training, and the exercise group was significantlymore.(P<0.05)(2). The proprioception of the patients in the exercise group rise upafter the exercise therapy significantly(P<0.05),while the results of control groupdon’t have significant diffrence,(3).The joint painless motion range of the exercisegroup are significant better than the control group after the exercise(P<0.05).(4).Therelapse rate of the exercise group are significant less than the control group after theexercise.Conclusions:(1).The exercise therapy of12weeks can significantly improvethe knee proprioception(2). It also can improve the knee joint painless motion rangesignificantly.(3). Exercise therapy can effectively improve the symptoms of kneeosteoarthritis,(4). Exercise therapy can effectively reduce the relapse rate ofKOApatients(5). Simple static quadriceps muscle strength exercises can improveknee joint symptoms, but to reduce the recurrence rate of knee osteoarthritis is notmeaningful...
