PURPOSE:To compare the changes of arch width in anterior and posterior arch after extraction and nonextraction.METHODS:The pre-d post-treatment study model of40patients were randomly selected and measured of which20patients with4pre-molar extraction was in the extraction group, while20patients with nonextraction was in the nonextraction group. Measurements were made in the canine and molar regions from the most labial aspect of the buccal surfaces of the canines and the molars. So make ANOVA.RESULTS:The mandibular intercanine mean width and maxillary intercanine mean width of the extraction group were increased in both pre-and post-treatment groups, the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05);In the nonextraction, the upper first-molar width were statistically significant before or after treatment(p<0.05);However, in the nonextraction group, changes of the width were not significantly treatment groups(p>0.05).In the nonextraction and extraction group before or after treatment, changes of the width were not significantly treatment groups(p>0.05).CONCLUSION:Extraction does not result in narrower dental arches than nonextraction treatment.
