An Empirical Research On Cotton Plastic Covering Transplant Adoption

The research was conducted based on the data of Yancheng City of Jiangsu Province withLogit Model and Tobit Model. The Logit Model was used to analyses on farmers' technicalchoice; the Tobit Model was for analyzing farmers' technical applying frequency.The macro data source is statistical data of Yancheng Bureau of Agriculture from 1993 to2004. The microcosmic section data was selected through questionnaire survey of 258farmers.The research conclusions are:From historical view, Yancheng's cotton plastic covering transplant technique diffusion occurred two-stage characteristics. From 1993 to 1997 is faster diffusion stage, the diffusion curve shows as S one. From 1997 to 2004 is decline and fluctuate stage, the curve shows as W one.The main influence factors of the plastic covering transplant adoption are cotton purchase price, administration impetus, policy, family net income, family owned medium, cotton plant area, agri-technician guiding time, farmer endure capacity for risk, etc.The majority farmers' motivation for applying plastic covering transplant is economy benefit. In the first diffusion stage, county and village technique extend branch is the most important channel for farmers to get technical information; relatives, friends and neighbors are the supplement channels.
