Taurocholic Acid (TCA) is a kind of tauro-conjugated bile acid which exists in many kinds of animals' bile. It belongs to conjugated bile acid. TCA were abs-tracted from bovine bile by using simple biochemistry technology such as salting-out,extraction,dehydration;separated by silica gel.The TCA were measured by thin layer scanning and absorption spectrometer, and its purity were more 97%.and itsthan recovery rate is 61%. In this project adopts the improved karber measure todetermine the acute oral toxicity of TCA, the LD50 is 4400mg/kg . The contents of inflammatory media in tissues were measured by using Fluor-o-spectrophotometry and UV-spectrophotometry for studying the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of TCA. The results showed that TCA could significantly reduce the contents of inflammatory media (Such as NO,PGE2,Histamine) in inflammatory tis-sues of rats. Both high and low dosage of TCA could obviously inhibit the infla-mmation and the content PGE2 which were induced by the methods of Auricular concha swelling, fitering out piment, cotton ball granular swelling and feet swelling. The content of the communication molecule-nitric oxide (NO) and the Histamine were also tested, and the mechanism of these action were disussed. TCA could ob-viously decreased the level of in Histamine blood in rats, but it could obviously r-edused the level of NO in brain tissue and plasma in rats.
