The biomass and productivity of forest were the emphases of forest ecosystem research .and the forest biomass and growth-yeild were not only the structural foundation but also the functional foundation of forest ecosystem, which have direct impact on forest matter and energy cycle and its sencondary productivity. In the forest ecosystem, the producer created the special environment, and the quantity of forest biomass and growth-yeild decided and restricted the capacity of water maintenance, soil conservation and climate melioration, so the forest was extraordinarily important to the maintenance of ecosystem balance. The biomass and productivity were the basal data to estimate the potential production of forest ecosystem, and they were indispensable to the forest ecosystem management. And the measuration of forest biomass was also an important side to the forest productivity research in forest ecosystem. This study was carried out in the evergreen broad-leaved forest of Tiantong National Forest Park, which was the typical hill vegetation zone, eastern Zhejiang Province, and it was also one of well-preserved regions of typical evergreen broad-leaved forest in eastern China. Selected the typical community in the area, all the trees in quadrats established in the forest were identified and measured to quantify the community structure of the forest . Based on this point, the biomass of the community and its main tree species were measured with harvest methods and dimension analysis. The relations between various organ biomass of tree, tree height and diameter at breast were obtained by the method of correlation analysis, the mathematics models for every organ of main species had been established in this paper. And then the biomass of the community, which was dominant by Schima superba and Castanopsis carlesii, especially the biomass of main tree species was analyzed, that is the biomass of community and its main tree species in every layer, and the biomass distribution in various species and organs. Mean while, to show the lever of biomass, the community biomass of this area was compared to another community's in our eastern evergreen broad-leaved forest. This was the foundation of further productivity research. The results indicated that the biomass above ground was 155.7692 t/hm in the community, and the tree layer biomass was the main component of the whole biomass, which is above 90% to the whole community biomass. But another layer' amount is below 1% except little amount of the shrub layer and litter layer(about 2%~6%). The biomass of the community and its every layer was mostly composed of main species biomass, the same as evergreen broad-leaved species biomass. The biomass of S.superba and C carlesii was respectively dominant in the tree layer and shrub layer. And the sprout biomass in shrub layer was more fifteen times than in herb layer, the two layers biomass was mostly composed of evergreen broad-leaved species biomass, in which the sprout biomass of C. carlesii was respectively dominant. These incarnated not only the distribution character of community biomass in typical evergreen broad-leaved forest, but also the structure character of the S. superba - C. carlesii community. The biomass distrubution was different between various organs, every species and every layer (including sprout)in the community, which was mostly composed of stem biomass, the order of various organs biomass was stem>branch>leaf. The percentage of stem biomass to whole layer biomass was close in tree and shrub layer, but the The percentage of branch biomass in tree layer was more than shrub layer. The leaf biomass decreased gradually from tree layer to herb layer while The percentage of leaf biomass to whole layer biomass increased gradually. That basically indicated the shape difference between various species due to the nonuniform distribution of light in the community.Compared to the above-ground biomass of other communities in eastern evergreen broad-leaved forest, the biomass of S. superba - C. carlesii community aged 52 was in middle leve...
