Li County is one of the larger agriculture counties in Hunan, and consists of small 32 small towns and 10 farms. Fruit farming occupies an area of 7000ha. 50% of grass production value is derived from agriculture, as such, fruit industry is important in agriculture of the county.The climate is pleasant. The fruit development has speed up in recent years. There will be a good market. The great success of orange industry in Shi Men County adjacent to Li County has given a good example to it, and provides Li County with a larger fruit market.The specialized level of fruit industry is not high in this county .There are a few larger farms and the business is engaged by households respectively .The specialized fruit-farming is only at its beginning. There are not any good brands for fruit .The investment outside and from government office will be a new pattern of the industry.7000ha fruit farmland is consisted of orange (5338ha) , pear(785ha) , peach and plum (518ha ) , and the others (360ha ) .Oranges include Penggan (1764ha ), Satsuma (2570ha), and novel orange (1004ha).Technical service system for fruit industry is as follows: The extensive system conducted by County Forestry Bureau, which has given free-material to the farmers; the consultant system involved by the specialists from Hunan Agricultural University. Hunan Horticultural Institute and Chang De Agricultural School etc. Peasant-technician service system which is mainly responsible for sailing and technical exchange each other.The fruit industry development was restricted by follow elements, such as the smaller production scale; no leading-industry; less investment; no brand; unreasonable variety-arrangement.In order to speed up the development of fruit industry in this county, following works must be well done: Firstly, production scale should be extended. Secondly, a good brand should be established; thirdly, transformation of government function and enhancement of technical measure should be regarded.
