Nowadays it is well known the running business from Terra/EOS satellite of the U.S.A has offered a new chance to develop further the observation on remote sensing to ground that the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer-MODIS can make us obtain the data using one hundred meters in unit. During the studying, two real measurement regions were choosed to do the biomass measurement on the three types of grasslands respectively such as the steppe, the meadow in Xiaoquzi township and the desert in Yongfeng township. According to the corresponding Red and Near infrared radiation data in step, we shall respectively figure out NDVI and RVI of the three grasslands by using the two sensors. Compared to the analyzed results, the linear relation between vegetation index and the real measured grassland biomass is formed, which will help to form the estimating model on the vegetation index of MODIS. All the results in the course of studying will be beneficial to estimate the grassland biomass on width zone and carry out dynamic monitoring by using the MODIS data.
