OsAIL5, a member of AP2/EREBP transcription factors, was cloned from rice(Oryza sativa L.). Phylogenetic analysis shows OsAIL5is homologous gene of AIL5in Arabidopsis thaliana. The activities of GUS driven by OsAIL5promoter was only detected in5to7days after the rice germinated, especially in roots and young leaves. OsAIL5-overexpressing transgenic plants compared with wt also weaken nitrate tolerance with lower germination rate and less growth vigor. The expression of OsAILS is mainly located in rice seed and is induced by ABA,and OsAlL5-overexpressing transgenic rice was sensitive to ABA.All of these result indicated that OsAIL5gene play an important role in seed gemiation responding to nitrate through the ABA pathway.
