The simulation is an important auxiliary tool of power system design, planning, operation and the ultimate decision-making, and each component of power system mathematical model and system-wide mathematical model is the basis for simulation. Mathematical models have been relatively more mature in the generator, speed control system, excitation systems, transformers and other components, load model is due to its own complexity, time variability, distribution, randomness, etc., modeling is relatively complicated, it is recognized worldwide problem. The two methods of load modeling-Component-Based Modeling Approach and Measurement-Based Modeling Approach, Component-Based Modeling Approach has lagged behind. From the power system load modeling about the basic concepts, introduced the development history of load modeling, research status, load modeling important influence on power system analysis. On this basis, the paper explained in detail the basic theory and basic methods of power system load modeling. Including system identification theory and its identification methods, load model classification and parameter identification method. After that, starting from the Component-Based Modeling Approach, introduced the basic principles of Component-Based Modeling Approach and its basic process. After that, focusing on a new method of load characteristics aggregate, this method is different from traditional methods, based on power flow calculation. The aggregate approach aggregates from low voltage to high voltage step by step. The lower voltage levels, being closer to the customer, load characteristic more explicit. We can get load characteristic parameters in higher voltage grid making use of power flow calculation after getting the load model parameters of customers. According to the approach above, we can get the load characteristic parameters in each voltage grade. The advantage of this new method takes into the actual network topology, the local power plant, compensator and other factors. Compared with traditional methods, the load characteristics established using this new approach is nearer to actual load characteristic. Finally, we present a collection using the actual load curve and the recognition received by the typical load curve type, to identify the proportion of load constitute a new method. This approach depends on people components for integrated load more precise understanding of, given by the Component-Based Modeling Approach in an integrated third Basics date provide an effective way.
