With the Chongqing Municipality was selected as National Center City, Chongqing must strive to develop the tertiary industry and modern service industries which rely on the office buildings in the city center in order to make Chongqing's economic strength to reach the national level cities. However, the five city centers of Chongqing are facing shortage of land, office building distribution ratio unreasonable conditions that led to large number of high-rise residential buildings which were built in 1990s were replaced into functional office buildings. Such office building's envelope's thermal performance is weak and has large indoor heat, Energy Saving of this kind of office building is urgent.According to the investigation of the functional replacement-type office buildings in five city centers in Chongqing, and the climatic characteristics of Chongqing, combined our energy conservation design standards and related specifications to study the passive periphery structure of the energy-saving technologies and strategies of such office building. Then the energy saving reform measures about the external structure of such office buildings were summarized and analyzed. And the different energy-conservation measures'combination patterns were also analyzed by the computer simulation.This paper is divided into six chapters:Chapter one: Introduction. This part introduces the background, the objective and significance of the research, and puts forward the research framework in the last.Chapter two: Principles and methods of energy-conservation reform's strategic design of the functional replacement-type office building are generally presented. And the necessity and feasibility of energy sustainability are proved.Chapter three: Surveyed distribution, envelope structure and total energy consumption characteristics of the existing functional replacement-type office buildings in Chongqing.Chapter four: Passive design methods to energy-conservation reform of functional replacement-type office building's external structures are stated.Chapter five: One functional replacement-type office building model is built up and model analyses are taken. And the different energy-conservation measures'combination patterns were also analyzed by the computer simulation. Chapter six: The whole conclusions are made and the problems that ought to be deeply discussed in the following research are presented.
