In the steam generator water control system, the objects controlled usually contain some uncertainty. Any actual system has nonlinear characteristics. So, if concise models are used to design controllers, something may go wrong when these concise models differ largely from the real ones. Sometimes the objects even can not be controlled. Since the complication of the nonlinear objects, there is no unified controller design method at present. In this article, genetic algorithm and sub-optimal algorithm were adopted in reducing model orders of the high orders and then multiple internal model control (MIMC) design strategy was developed and applied in steam generator water control system in nuclear plant. The process internal model is represented by the weighted-sum of the linear model by using model validity function. Simulation result showed that the proposed MIMC design method is superior to the conventional PID control in large scale and has wide application prospect.
