The problem of harmonic pollution mainly came from the uses of a large number of nonlinear and time-varying power electronic devices which generated current and voltage waveform distortion. Harmonic pollution had very serious negative impact to the electrical equipment of power system on power consumption control, service life and performance., while it reduced the power quality. It was very important to find effective solutions to harmonic pollution for power systems to perform safely and economically.In this paper, harmonic suppression control device whose core was TMS320F2812 was designed based on the Neural Network improved by genetic algorithm. The simulation proved that the device had better harmonic suppression control effect.This paper analyzed the reasons and damages of harmonic from the power generation equipment, transmission lines and electrical equipment, while the use of intelligent algorithms for harmonic calculation was proposed through the comparison among traditional methods. The analysis of Neural Network improved by genetic Algorithm led to the result that the harmonic detection based on this method could not only ensure the accuracy of the calculation result but also improve the global search capability. The hardware of harmonic suppression control device whose core was TMS320F2812 was designed, including modules of current signal sampling, harmonic analysis, harmonic control and communications. The software programming to DSP was finished based on intelligent detection algorithm, whose function included signal sampling, PC communications, harmonic analysis and the PWM wave modulation. Simulation results showed that harmonic suppression control device based on intelligent algorithm worked well for accurate analysis of harmonic calculation and real time control of harmonic suppression control, which also showed this device had better value on harmonic suppression control.
