With the continuous expansile of rural highway constructing in recent years, the problem of part of rural highways lack of traffic safety devices and traffic safeguard project constructing impertinency comparatively stand out. In particular, the rate of traffic accidents is steadily rising in the complex western mountainous terrain of rural highway. The deep research mountainous rural highway traffic security problem, improve the level of rural highway traffic safety, is urgently needed to be solve.Based on the mountainous rural highway survey in the west provinces of Chongqing, Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, through consulting domestic and foreign correlative research, the article firstly analysised and compared a variety of the choice forms and intercalation guidelines for highway security facilities. The paper stresslessly introduced the security facilities suitable for the western mountains rural highway, analyzed and summarized the diposition technique of safeguard project domestic rural highways. Combined with mountainous rural highway traffic safety evaluation method for the principle of weighted analysis, based on determinant standard of dangerous mountainous rural highway, the paper stresslessly analyzed accident mechanism and the route features of the road-side dangerous sections, small radius curve sections, great longitudinal slope sections and intersections. According to the traffic safety dominating impacting factors of dangerous sections and the principle of safe, economic,and appliable, the paper summed up safeguard project classified countermeasures for each dangerous sections .Finally, the paper introduced single-stage fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method for the appliance effect of classified countermeasures of mountainous rural highway security engineering.
