With the growing of the material and cultural living standard, and the becoming more and more diverse public events occurred in the public space at night, commercial exterior environment --one of the urban public space, should response to the change of the activities, as a major vessels to contain those activities, to be better to contain and stimulate the activities happened in the public space of the urban at night.Modern urban are taking more and more attention at the environment of the urban at night. But in the present, the changes of the night-time environment of the urban are all relying on the development of the Lighting Technology, and stay on the lighting regulate. Many cities increase the brightness of the illumination monotonously, just for improve the image of the night urban. And always be short of thinking about the quality of the whole public environment for city activities. Those brought a lot of problems, for example, many lighting do not match with the function of the space, and the night environment cannot actively promote the activities carried out in the public space.The paper is based on this background, from the perspective of urban design, through learning urban design, psychology, and lighting design theory background theory to guide the role of environmental design on the night, focused on the investigation of activities in the public space and space capabilities analysis and study. Sought on this basis, search and sum up the the design principles and the methods of commercial exterior environment design at night.
