In recent years, a significant trend is the global shipbuilding center has been transferred from Japan and Korea to China. It has driven to accelerative development of national shipbuilding industry. After experiencing the international financial crisis, the global ship market has resumed prosperously; Shipbuilding industry of China is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges. The key issue for rapid development of Chinese shipbuilding industry is to improve the level of ship design constantly. In order to improve the quality and performance of design, shorten the design period and reduce cost in ship design, the thesis which aims at the category of waterjet propulsion device selection, applies CAD technology on waterjet propulsion device selection.For selection of appropriate waterjet models, Combined with relevant information, the thesis makes analysis of parameters which relate to Planing hull with waterjet to ensure a good state at high-speed, moreover, attempts the calculation methods of waterjet parameters. Using CAD technology as a platform, it transforms 3-D archetype hull to amendatory hull. By theoretical analysis and resistance, power estimations, demonstrating a reasonable correction of hull parameters should be helpful to optimize amendatory parameters, and attain appropriate waterjet model with information from Waterjet manufacturers.Referring to CAD assisted selection technology on main Power Equipment experiences, the selection process of waterjet models afford to Planing hull based on CAD technology has been established. At the initial stage of design, the results of selection which generally could be obtained at last in traditional methods has been shown on computer, therefore, efficiency of selection would be improved. Resistance and power estimations may not only ensure correctness and reliability of the selection results, but also predict airworthiness and environmental performance of Planing hull with waterjet. Compared with the traditional selection methods, the selection process established in the thesis has more practical value and depth of the research.The selection process established in the thesis provides a reference experiences for similar selections of the main vessel propulsions, moreover, attempts to lead CAD assisted selection technology to a wider range of applications.
