The designer must pay attention to the safety of large-span steel spatial structure during construction and mechanic behavior of formed structure after construction. Because conventional design method didn't carry out numerical calculation or checking steps of structural forming plan and mechanical status during forming process, which could probably lead to security incidents during construction. In order to solve the construction simulation problems of large-span spatial steel structure, track the changes of the member internal forces and node displacements, this paper reviewed and summarized some current construction calculating methods and presented a new construction simulation method, that was nonlinear construction forces and displacements superposition method.Taking "Sun Valley" project in 2010' Shanghai Expo as an example, the method proposed in this paper was applied to compare different construction plans on the basis of elastic theory, using ANSYS 10.0 (large-scale finite element analysis software). From the results, we can see that the layer-by-layer construction plan had the advantages of not only reduce the amount of scaffolding and decrease project cost, but also can reduce the maximum deflection of structure after molding. Then a single-layer reticulated shell structure was adopted to compare the differences of mechanical behavior of formed structure using conventional design method and method considering construction plan. Due to the comparition, we can discover the shortcomings of conventional design method and propose a new design approach that was the Design-Construction integration method.Through analysis and researches, the nonlinear construction forces and displacements superposition method presented in this paper was precise and fast, and could be used in construction calculation of actually projects; the designer should consider the construction plan and erection process in order to carry out construction design integrated analysis in a structural design.
