The task of maintenance of electrical equipment is significant which ensures reliable operations of power system. However, traditional methods have been unable to meet the development needs of the modern power system. The study of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) is imperative.This paper combining with the author's own experience, concerns GIS equipments of Guangdong Power Grid from applications to strategies. Main works in this paper are as follows:(1) The task of operation fault statistics and analysis for Guangdong Power Grid is finished. In section 2, we have made sure the fault laws of GIS and found the key to test conditions.(2) Based on the concept of condition-based maintenance, this paper analyzes its system structure and points out the main task of applications in Guangdong Power Grid.(3) This paper makes an in-depth discussion of the technologies and applications for GIS equipments in Guangdong Power Grid. Combining the author's own experience, these specific characteristics of detection technology are analyzed. In section 3 some actual diagnostic techniques are provide.(4) From the typical accident of high voltage switches, this paper analyzes the overall strategy for condition-based maintenance. With the situation of Guangdong Power Grid, in-depth discussions of maintenance cycles and maintenance projects have been made.With this theoretical research related to CBM, it will provide decisions and help for Guangdong Power Grid.
