High-rise structure is some what different from others because of being high, light, flexible and slender. It has been widely used in some related field such as power transmission, communication, broadcasting and television system. Due to its characteristic of shape, wind load is the dominating load of high-rise structure. With the growth of demand and progress of technique, it has been developed to be much higher, lighter and more slender which increases its sensitivity to wind load. The buffeting response becomes more intensive.The analytical methods of resisting wind divides into frequency-domain method and time-domain method. The turbulent atmosphere is considered as a stationary random process in the frequency-domain method. According to the actual measured time history of fluctuating wind velocity, the statistical quantity can be calculated with the transfer coefficient. The analysis time domain can simulate time history. It also can respond to the influence of the structure which is non-linear and to the influence of the correlation of the wind-loads.Because there is no the actual measured time history of fluctuating wind velocity, the frequency-domain method can not be used. Therefore the analysis in time-history is fit for Wind-induced buffeting problem. The major works presented in the paper are stated as following:1.According to the behaviour of the wind field on high-rise structure, the methods of WAWS are used to simulate the time history of fluctuating wind velocity. At the same time ,the correlation of the fluctuating wind is considered. By using the FFT technique, the efficiency of simulation is improved greatly. In addition, the parameters of the different fluctuating wind which are calculated by the different power spectrum are compared so that the more adaptable power spectrum will be found.2.In this thesis , random wind speed and build buffeting force model are based on Davenport theory. The along wind response was calculated in time domain. The damping was calculated. The average wind load and buffeting force respectively which contribute to structure's response are also considered. The results were compared with that of the wind tunnel test.3.For the purpose of studying the vibration characteristics of high-rise structure under high wind speed, the model of WeiHai tower was tested in wind tunnel. The aerodynamic model was designed and manufactured with similar principle. The boundary layer was simulated in wind tunnel. The aerodynamic force coefficients in laminar flow and the dynamic response in turbulence flow were measured in the experiment. The results were converted to the real structure.
